President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on the appointment of Oljas Bektenov as the country's prime minister. The information was provided by "Interfax.ru".

"Oljas Abayevich Bektenov should be released from his previous position and appointed as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan," reads the order published on the president's website.

Before that, the deputies of the lower house of the Parliament of Kazakhstan expressed their approval for the appointment of Bektenov as the country's prime minister.

43-year-old Bektenov has been the head of the presidential administration since April 2023. During these years, he worked as the head of the Anti-Corruption Department, the Ministry of Justice and the head of the capital administration.

A day ago, the President of Kazakhstan accepted the resignation of the government headed by Alikhan Smailov from January 2022.
