If the leadership of the European Union (EU) understands what the real interests of the organization are and if Azerbaijan defends the truth about the situation in the Caucasus with appropriate instruments, new agreements can be signed between Azerbaijan and the EU, French historian and researcher Maxime Gauin told Report.

"Direct relations between the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Council of the European Union, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, are a great achievement for Azerbaijani diplomacy," the expert added.

According to him, Armenian nationalists, as well as Russia, are doing everything they can to prevent the signing of a new agreement: "The joint efforts of the executive structures of Baku and the EU, including the use of communication professionals of Azerbaijan, are needed to fight against this problem."
