French President Emmanuel Macron intends to reorganize his government, according to the weekly newspaper Journal du Dimanche.

Report informs via TASS that Macron may change the Prime Minister and heads of some key departments.

The newspaper notes that "in a New Year’s address to his compatriots, the French leader announced a new course and expressed words of gratitude to Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, which usually precedes resignation."

There are four most likely candidates to succeed Borne. The list is topped by a political veteran - former speaker of the National Assembly (lower house of parliament), 61-year-old Richard Ferrand.

The youngest member of the cabinet, 34-year-old Education Minister Gabriel Attal, who was a former government spokesman and spoke on its behalf, also enjoys a high rating among analysts.

Rounding out the top four are two other influential officials from Macron's inner circle - the current Minister of the Armed Forces, 37-year-old Sebastien Lecornu, and the former Minister of Agriculture, 43-year-old Julien Denormandie.

According to the newspaper, Minister of Transport Clement Beaune and Minister of Culture Rima Abdul-Malak may lose their posts. They previously expressed objections to the new immigration law, which displeased the Elysee Palace.

Borne has served as head of government since May 2022. The current composition of the government was approved two months later.
