Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi is scheduled to visit Türkiye on January 4, Report informs.
During the visit, along with discussing a number of bilateral and regional issues, it is expected that Türkiye and Iran will take concrete steps towards cooperation, in particular in the fight against terrorism.
Another important area of negotiations is expected to be bilateral trade, which stood at $22 billion in 2012 but fell to $6 billion due to sanctions and the pandemic. The parties plan to increase this figure to $30 billion.
According to the Turkish Ministry of Trade, Turkish contracting companies have implemented 56 projects in Iran with a total value of $4.6 billion. At the meeting of the Joint Economic Commission, which will be held in Tehran at the end of January, intensified efforts are expected to promote trade between the two countries.
A total of ten agreements are expected to be signed between the two countries during the visit.
