Under the pretext of spreading civilization, France actually sought to establish its dominance in Africa, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti and head of the Djibouti-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group Ilaya Ismael Guedi said at the international conference “Dialogues on Decolonization: Legacy, Challenges and Progress” held in Baku, according to Report.

The history of the African continent shows that the French Empire, under the pretext of spreading civilization, actually pursued the goal of establishing its power here, Guedi said, adding that before French colonialism, African peoples already had their own civilization and rich culture.

According to her, France has always strived for dominance in Africa and continues to pursue colonial policies, trying to deprive the countries of independence.

Today's youth are ready to take the initiative and put an end to the colonization of African countries, she said noting that they actively oppose this policy, are ready to say no to colonialism and strive for freedom.

She also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its active work during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement and its efforts on the issue of decolonization in the modern world.
