The number of victims of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict may be significantly higher than the published data, UN Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths said, Report informs via TASS.

According to him, “disease and hunger are becoming the main cause of death and deprivation” in the enclave, where a humanitarian catastrophe is taking place.

“The number of deaths from a disease may be several times higher than the number of casualties resulting from military operations and airstrikes,” he said. But the statistics, Griffiths said, "could change radically" once the rubble was cleared.
