Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accepted the credentials of the Egyptian ambassador, appointed for the first time after ten years of diplomatic relations at a reduced level, Report informs referring to Turkish media.

The Turkish presidential administration emphasized that Erdogan accepted the credentials of Egyptian Ambassador to Ankara Amr el-Hamami.

Judging by the photos published by the Ahaber TV channel, el-Hamami came to the reception with his family. The ambassador has served as Egypt’s Chargé d'Affaires in Ankara since 2019. Previously, the diplomat worked at the Egyptian embassies in Denmark, Niger, Bulgaria and at the UN mission.

Prior to this, the Turkish leader held talks with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in India, during which the Turkish head of state noted the great importance of intensifying cooperation between the two countries in the field of LNG and nuclear energy.

During the meeting the presidents discussed bilateral relations, increasing trade volumes, regional and global issues.
