The Global Sustainable Transport Forum has today kicked off in Beijing.

The event is organized by the China's Ministry of Transport. The forum themed "Sustainable Transport: Working Together to Promote Global Development," gathers together more than 50 dignitaries, ministerial-level representatives and personnel from international organizations. Azerbaijan is represented at the forum by a delegation led by Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev.

The speakers of the forum stressed that the issue of transport is the key to the world economy. It is impossible to speak of any economic cooperation without transport links. It was emphasized that the issue of sustainable transport does not belong only to one country, but has a global character. The event also stressed the role of existing transport routes in Eurasia, including cooperation within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, in the deepening of economic relations, especially in terms of logistics, i.e. cargo transportation.

The possibilities of the transport corridors passing through Azerbaijan, the Middle Corridor, and the Trans-Caspian International East-West Transport Route in transporting goods from China to Europe and vice versa were underlined at the event.

The forum focuses on promoting global connections, addressing regional differences, sharing innovative technologies and equipment, advancing green and low-carbon development, and deepening partnerships in the transportation sector.
