Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, is participating in the 4th Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum at the invitation of Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Supervisor-General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre. The forum commenced on February 24.

Addressing the panel session titled “Navigating the Future of Humanitarian Response,” Leyla Aliyeva highlighted the humanitarian projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Azerbaijan and other countries.

Organized by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the forum explores topics such as the role of humanitarian diplomacy in addressing conflicts and disasters, the delivery of humanitarian aid and relief supplies, and responses to displacement amid rising conflicts and natural disasters.

Emphasizing the global significance of the forum’s agenda, Leyla Aliyeva noted that, as a result of the successful policies pursued since regaining its independence, Azerbaijan has transformed from a recipient of humanitarian aid into a donor state. She underscored that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, as a leading non-governmental organization in the region, has been implementing large-scale humanitarian projects since 2004. Highlighting the Foundation's extensive efforts in various sectors, she emphasized that its projects in education, healthcare, and social services have reached the international level and are widely recognized by partner organizations and countries.

Addressing pressing global challenges, including climate change, Leyla Aliyeva stressed the importance of mobilizing efforts to protect the environment and support countries facing issues such as the elimination of hunger.

She also noted that Azerbaijan has developed a successful model of volunteerism and highlighted the significance of fostering volunteer programs to tackle humanitarian challenges effectively.

The two-day forum brings together high-ranking officials from various countries, along with heads of the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), UNICEF, and other prominent international and donor organizations, as well as global experts and researchers.
