The 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) under Azerbaijan's chairmanship has kicked off in Baku.

Report informs that the event, attended by 35 delegations including approximately 280 representatives in total, is expected to discuss a number of important issues.

APA is an important parliamentary diplomacy platform uniting Asian parliaments, and such events serve to develop discussions and dialogue between the legislative bodies of member countries.

Speakers of legislative bodies from many countries have already arrived in Baku to participate in the event.

On the sidelines of the event, meetings were held between the Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani, Chairman of Oman's Shura Council Khalid Bin Hilal Al Maawali, and the Speaker of the Council of Belarus Natalya Kochanova.

Gafarova is also scheduled to meet with other parliamentary speakers participating in the event.
