Vusal Huseynov, Chief of Azerbaijan’s State Migration Service, met with Troy Dooley, Chief of Mission for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the country.
The meeting saw discussions on preparations for holding the Ministerial Conference of Almaty Process in Baku, the second phase of the Regional Training Center on Migration project, as well as the joint activities within Azerbaijan's chairmanship priorities as part of the Almaty Process.
Vusal Huseynov hailed the fruitful and close cooperation that have been established over many years between the State Migration Service and the IOM, one of Azerbaijan’s key international partners in the field of migration management.
He also commended the joint organization of a number of events on human mobility and climate change held as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which took place in Azerbaijan this November.
The Chief of the State Migration Service also highlighted the support that IOM provided to a number of projects and initiatives implemented in various areas related to migration in Azerbaijan, as well as the successful implementation of joint projects to enhance knowledge and skills in this area, as evidenced by the activity of Regional Training Center on Migration.
Chief of IOM Mission Troy Dooley congratulated Vusal Huseynov on the successful organization of the COP29 conference in Azerbaijan, describing the State Migration Service as one of the IOM’s key partners in the country.
Noting that he would spare no effort to further develop the existing relations, Troy Dooley emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects in the field of migration in expanding cooperation.
