Baku hosts 58th Executive Committee meeting of International Association of Prosecutors

Baku hosted Saturday the 58th Executive Committee meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP).

The event was held on the margins of IAP’s 29th Annual Conference and General Gathering scheduled to be held in the Azerbaijani capital from September 29 to October 2.

Addressing the meeting, Kamran Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General, highlighted the ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan’s prosecutor authorities, in accordance with the directives of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as well as contribution of the Azerbaijan prosecutor authorities to the IAP’s activities.

The Prosecutor General noted that Azerbaijan would host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, one of the most prestigious events in the world, describing it as another indicator of international community’s trust and respect to Azerbaijan, as well as the country’s growing authority on international arena.

He said that holding the IAP’s Annual Conference and General Meeting in Azerbaijan is a milestone achievement, adding that the country would further contribute significantly to the association’s activity.

The meeting saw discussions on IAP’s future strategy and activity, furthering international relations, selection of the IAP leadership, admission of the new members, hearing of reports and related recommendations, holding another annual meeting of the association.

The participants agreed to hold the IAP’s 30th and 31th Annual Conference and General Meetings in Singapore city (Singapore) and Al-Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), respectively.

The International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) is the only worldwide organization of prosecutors. It was established in 1995 and now has more than 183 organizational members from over 177 different countries, representing every continent, as well as many individual members.
