The Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in China organized a charity campaign for children with special needs undergoing treatment at the Beijing Children's Welfare Institute.
As part of the project, specialized educational equipment based on artificial intelligence (AI) was donated to support the education of children with physical and mental disabilities.
During the event, it was noted that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation builds its activities on the principles of humanism championed by the National Leader. It was highlighted that the charitable initiatives led by the Foundation’s President, Mehriban Aliyeva, extend beyond Azerbaijan to many countries around the world.
Speaking at the event, organized on the eve of the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to China Bunyad Huseynov highlighted the historic services of the prominent statesman to the Azerbaijani people. He stated that in 1991, shortly after restoring its state independence, Azerbaijan faced the threat of losing it. The Azerbaijani people saw Heydar Aliyev as the only leader capable of guiding the country out of those difficult circumstances. Returning to power in response to the will of the people, Heydar Aliyev saved the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani people, and the historic achievement of restored independence from collapse.
The diplomat noted that, thanks to the National Leader’s wisdom, determination, political acumen, and extensive administrative experience, a fundamental transformation began across all sectors in Azerbaijan. He added that Heydar Aliyev initiated measures aimed at strengthening the country’s international standing and economic development. Global projects realized through the initiative and direct efforts of the National Leader — including the restoration of the ancient Silk Road, as well as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (BTE) oil and gas pipelines — have made Azerbaijan’s independence enduring and irreversible.
Ambassador Bunyad Huseynov emphasized that one of the National Leader’s most significant historic contributions was raising a political successor capable of continuing his course. He noted that today, as a result of the pragmatic and farsighted policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev, the worthy successor to the Heydar Aliyev political legacy, Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty have been fully restored, and the country’s international prestige has grown significantly.
Emphasizing that both National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev have attached great importance to the development of Azerbaijan-China relations, the diplomat added that this approach has elevated bilateral ties to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
