As part of her working visit to Istanbul, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Ibrahim Boughali, President of the Algerian National People’s Assembly.
The sides exchanged views on relations between the two friendly countries and noted that Azerbaijan and Algeria have favorable opportunities for further advancement of bilateral ties.
The parties hailed the current level of political dialogue, emphasizing that both countries demonstrate mutual support and solidarity within international organizations.
The officials underlined that inter-parliamentary relations are an important component of bilateral ties, noting that reciprocal visits and meetings at the level of parliamentary speakers, as well as regular dialogue among deputies, contribute to the deepening of cooperation.
They also stressed that friendship groups play an important role in strengthening relations and that the two parliaments successfully cooperate within international parliamentary organizations.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova stated: “There is mutual support between our legislative bodies in these organizations. Relations have further developed within the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan, which has achieved significant success in institutional development and strengthening its international reputation under the chairmanship of the Milli Majlis.”
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
