Mojtaba Demirchilou, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, expressed gratitude to the state and people of Azerbaijan during a press conference at the Iranian Embassy in Baku.
“In the present situation, the measures undertaken by the Islamic Republic of Iran are based on the right to self-defense under international law and are legitimate. If the opposing side persists in its attacks and aggression, it would not be appropriate for the Islamic Republic of Iran to remain without response,” the ambassador stated.
He thanked Azerbaijan for its solidarity during the challenging period, noting that both official and informal messages of condolence had been conveyed. “This serves as a testament to our shared culture and the strength of our relations, for which we extend our sincere gratitude,” he said.
The ambassador recalled that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev extended condolences to Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian. He also highlighted a telephone conversation between Foreign Ministers Jeyhun Bayramov and Seyed Abbas Araghchi, during which Azerbaijan’s official position was reiterated — emphasizing that Azerbaijan will never allow its territory to be used for any threat against Iran.
The ambassador added that Azerbaijan’s senior officials have consistently and publicly affirmed this stance.
