Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Johann David Wadephul on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Germany, as well as regional security issues.
They emphasized the importance of continuing high-level political dialogue and noted that reciprocal visits and meetings within international platforms make a significant contribution to deepening cooperation.
The sides highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, energy security, agriculture, transport and logistics, as well as in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Attention was drawn to the contribution of strategic energy and transport projects implemented with Azerbaijan’s initiative and participation to Europe’s energy security and to ensuring sustainable development in the region. The prospects for cooperation in renewable energy, joint projects within the framework of the “green transition,” and coordinated efforts in the broader region, including Central Asia, were also reviewed.
Touching upon mutual engagement within international organizations, the ministers hailed the continuation of cooperation and support based on respect for each other’s legitimate interests and mutual trust on multilateral platforms.
Minister Bayramov briefed his counterpart on the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the Armenia–Azerbaijan normalization process, and the steps taken by Azerbaijan to ensure de facto peace and initiate cooperation in the region following the historic Washington Summit.
The sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
