Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov discusses regional issues with his Iranian counterpart

Foreign Ministers Jeyhun Bayramov of Azerbaijan and Seyed Abbas Araghchi of Iran held a telephone conversation on January 29.

The situation surrounding Iran was discussed during the phone call.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that the recent tensions in the region are causing concern, and that Azerbaijan has always emphasized the necessity for all parties to refrain from steps and rhetoric that could lead to instability in Iran and its surrounding areas. He noted that existing problems must be resolved solely through dialogue and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms and principles of international law.

He particularly emphasized that Azerbaijan’s airspace or territory will never be allowed to be used by any state for conducting military operations against neighboring Iran or any other country.

During the telephone conversation, the Ministers had an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
