An event focusing on the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Vietnam and the leading role of political parties was held in Hanoi. The event was organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Vietnam.
The event brought together Vietnamese state and government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Vietnam–Azerbaijan Friendship Association, Vietnamese graduates who previously studied in Azerbaijan, and media representatives.
Addressing the event, Shovgi Mehdizada, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Vietnam, highlighted the deep-rooted friendly relations between the two countries. He noted that National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s visit to Vietnam in 1983 and the visit of the great Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh to Azerbaijan in 1959 laid the foundation for bilateral interstate relations. The ambassador added that the historic state visit of To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, to Azerbaijan last May elevated these relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
“The existing active political dialogue between the two countries defines the expansion of multifaceted cooperation between the parties. Today, Azerbaijan and Vietnam—trusted strategic partners—attach great importance to protecting each other’s interests globally,” said Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP).
The YAP Deputy Chairman stressed that maintaining close contacts significantly contributes to the development of relations at all levels.
Other speakers included Nguyen Thi Huong, Director-General of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, and Dang The Vinh, Chairman of the Vietnam–Azerbaijan Friendship Association.
