The Washington agreement is among the major political and diplomatic achievements Azerbaijan has secured in recent years. The initialing of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia with the participation and witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump provides momentum for the establishment of a durable peace agenda in the South Caucasus. The implementation of the Zangezur Corridor project, initiated by President Ilham Aliyev, in this context fosters the expansion of regional cooperation, said Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Milli Majlis, as she addressed the special meeting held as part of the extraordinary session of the Milli Majlis on the theme "The Washington Agreements: A Triumph of Peace Diplomacy and Wise Leadership."
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev's visit marked the beginning of a new stage in Azerbaijan-U.S. relations.
According to the Speaker, the agreements reached during the Washington visit serve to protect Azerbaijan's national interests on the international stage and ensure regional peace. "The Washington agreements are a pivotal milestone in ensuring regional stability and security in the region, and they have the backing of the international community," Sahiba Gafarova added.
