An Azerbaijani delegation led by Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Foreign Minister and COP29 Lead Negotiator, paid a visit to the Republic of Cuba on May 22.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, as well as ambassadors of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member states accredited to Cuba, and gave an interview to the Cubavisión Internacional TV.
During the meeting with Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister, the sides lauded the fruitful cooperation between the two countries, especially within international organizations. The parties exchanged views on combating climate change and the historic outcomes achieved within the framework of Azerbaijan's COP29 Presidency in this context. The two emphasized the significance of joint efforts to strengthen mutual interaction.
At the meeting with the ambassadors of CARICOM member states in Cuba, Yalchin Rafiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to developing relations with the organization and its member states. The humanitarian and development assistance provided by Azerbaijan to Small Island Developing States (SIDS) during and after its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement was also highlighted. During the meeting, both parties expressed their continued commitment to enhancing relations between Azerbaijan and the afore-mentioned organization, promoting joint projects, and fostering cooperation on multilateral platforms.
