The China-Azerbaijan friendship has deep historical roots. The Great Silk Road has been linking our peoples together for more than a thousand years. Over the past 33 years, since the establishment of the diplomatic relations, the Azerbaijan-China ties have been steadily evolving to turn into an exemplary mutually beneficial and equitable collaboration, thanks to the strategic leadership and joint efforts of both countries’ leaders,” said Lu Mei, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan, as she addressed the final stage of the 24th edition of the “Chinese Language Bridge” international competition at the Baku State University on Wednesday.
She highlighted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to China, adding that the visit saw adoption of the Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. According to her, this paves the way for deepening practical cooperation and expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges between Azerbaijan and China.
Ambassador Lu Mei further noted that the friendship between the two peoples is at the core of the interstate relations. She also underscored the pivotal role of both countries’ youth in continuous development of bilateral relations, highlighting the growing interest of the Azerbaijani youth in Chinese language and culture.
