Jeyhun Bayramov discusses tackling landmines with UN representative

Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development Rebeca Grynspan on the sidelines of the 12th Global Baku Forum, Report informs, citing MFA.

Various aspects and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN, opportunities for mutual action in efforts to combat landmine threat, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan's COP29 presidency and its cooperation with the UN in organizing the event are exemplary, emphasizing the importance of continuing this dynamic in the future.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke in detail about the international aid initiatives implemented by his country as a donor state and noted that Azerbaijan has provided assistance to a number of developing countries, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, to combat the pandemic, including supporting them in the post-pandemic period.

The other party was also informed in detail about the achievements made within the framework of COP29, in particular, the establishment of a new collective quantified goal on climate finance, the achievement of agreement on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement regulating carbon markets, and a number of initiatives implemented in parallel.

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
