Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the North Macedonian delegation led by President Gordano Siljanovska-Davkova.
During the meeting, Sahiba Gafarova underscored that high-level visits and meetings play a crucial role in promoting political relations between the two countries. She expressed her confidence that the visit would provide a powerful impetus to the further expansion of relations between the two countries.
Both sides highlighted the broad potential for strengthening relations and enhancing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, energy, transport, agriculture and other realms.
Describing Azerbaijan as a friendly country, President Gordano Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized that her country attaches great importance to developing relations with Azerbaijan. She also shared her impressions of the meeting with President Ilham Aliyev during the visit and expressed her views on the prospects for the transition to green energy, the efforts done by Azerbaijan in this area, and the important contributions that the COP29 conference and the 12th Global Baku Forum would make to this area.
Highlighting parliamentary interaction, Sahiba Gafarova underscored the importance of further enhancing relations between the legislative bodies, including deepening cooperation within international organizations.
Gafarova provided insights into the progress of the peace process with Armenia after the liberation of Azerbaijan’s lands from occupation, and Azerbaijan's role in ensuring the energy security of European countries.
The sides also highlighted the importance of interaction in the educational, cultural and humanitarian domains.
The President of North Macedonia lauded the rich cultural heritage of Azerbaijan.
The meeting also addressed other topics of mutual interest.
