Azerbaijani and Iraqi FMs discuss situation in Middle East

On February 15, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

The ministers discussed bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, as well as regional issues.

Minister Bayramov highlighted the significant contribution of high-level mutual visits and intensive political dialogue in advancing cooperation across political, economic, trade, energy, education, culture, and other sectors. The two sides also discussed the current situation in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of establishing peace and stability in the region.

They acknowledged that the historic friendship and solidarity between Azerbaijan and Iraq are reflected in their cooperation on international platforms. Fondly recalling his visit to Azerbaijan and the discussions on the development of bilateral ties, Minister Fuad Hussein expressed Iraq’s interest in further expanding relations with Azerbaijan, pointing out the ample opportunities to enhance bilateral collaboration.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other matters of mutual interest.
