Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia debate work aimed at determining circumstances of the plane crash near Aktau

Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia talked over the phone at the initiative of the Russian side, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the Akorda press service.

The Heads of State expressed condolences over the tragic loss of the citizens of Kazakhstan and Russia in the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan on December 25 and wished those injured sooner recovery.

The parties debated the work aimed at determining the circumstances of the plane crash. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said the governmental commission of Kazakhstan continues its investigation involving the experts from Azerbaijan, Russia and Brazil.

The Presidents stressed the importance of ensuring all-around and transparent investigation within the ongoing investigative action.

As earlier reported, on December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near Aktau. There were 67 people on board the crashed plane, including five crew members. As a result of the tragedy near Aktau, 38 people died, including all 6 citizens of Kazakhstan, leaving 29 survivors.
