“It is regrettable that the international community has remained silent about the oppression faced by the people of Azerbaijan and, on the contrary, they supported the perpetrators of this oppression. However, we always believed that justice would prevail. Valiant Azerbaijan secured its victory in the Patriotic War. As the state of Türkiye, we have always stood by Azerbaijan not only because we are brotherly countries, but because its stance is absolutely justified,” said Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, former Foreign Minister of Türkiye, member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and head of the delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly as he addressed the second international conference “The right to return: Advancing Justice for Azerbaijanis Expelled from Armenia” got underway on Thursday in Baku.

Türkiye’s Çavuşoğlu stressed that the actions of the Western Azerbaijan Community are fully in accordance with international law, underlining that this is an issue of human rights, not territory: "Despite full respect for the territorial integrity of Armenia, the official Yerevan has yet to respond to sincere appeals. Armenia's occupation of Karabakh has caused profound suffering. More than one million Azerbaijanis were displaced from their homes, and their return to their ancestral lands must be ensured. Additionally, it is regrettable that Armenia does not allow UNESCO's mission. We always believed in the victory of justice, and as a result, Azerbaijan fully restored its sovereignty. Today, extensive demining and reconstruction efforts are in progress in the areas contaminated with mines by Armenia".
