Azerbaijani FM Bayramov meets with Special Assistant to US President

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by Michael Carpenter, Special Assistant to the US President and Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

The sides discussed bilateral and regional issues between Azerbaijan and the US, as well as the current state and prospects for the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

They emphasized the importance of creating positive dynamics in bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the US, and increasing efforts to determine future cooperation prospects.

During the meeting, Bayramov informed the other side about the process of normalization and peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the recent Istanbul meeting. He stressed that despite significant progress in the peace agreement negotiations, the most serious obstacle to signing a final peace agreement is the continuation of territorial claims against Azerbaijan in a number of legal and political documents of Armenia, primarily the Armenian Constitution.

The meeting also exchanged views on other regional issues of mutual interest.
