Speaker of Turkish Grand National Assembly: Opening of Zangezur corridor will create significant opportunities for Turkic world

“The large-scale reconstruction works carried out in Karabakh and East Zangezur, as well as the opening of the Zangezur corridor will create significant opportunities for the Turkic world and Turkic-speaking countries,” said Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, as he met with Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, in Geneva, the Swiss Confederation.

Numan Kurtulmus hailed the successful development of fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. Noting that the two countries demonstrate a common position on all issues, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly emphasized that new conditions had emerged in the region after the 44-day Patriotic War.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that the relations between the two fraternal countries, which have developed based on the motto “One nation, two states” as stated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, have today reached the highest level thanks to the political will and joint efforts of the two countries’ leaders. She noted that the fraternal countries hold common positions on all issues, providing mutual support within international organizations.

The parties lauded the high-level interparliamentry cooperation between the two countries, adding that this collaboration will continue in the coming period. They highlighted the significance of meetings in a trilateral format at the parliamentary level.

The sides underlined the importance of collaboration between the two parliaments on multilateral platforms related to climate change.

During the conversation, the two also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
