Azerbaijan and Malta enjoy friendly and beneficial relations based on mutual respect

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with OSCE Chair-in-Office, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta Ian Borg, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Hailing the current level of friendship and beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Malta based on mutual respect, the two highlighted the importance of intensifying political dialogue, growing the dynamics of high-level visits, and bolstering contacts within international organizations to further develop these relations.

The parties also exchanged views on the OSCE agenda and the regional developments, highlighting the principal priorities of the Azerbaijan-OSCE cooperation agenda.

They also touched upon the possible collaboration with the OSCE chairmanship of Malta within the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be hosted by Azerbaijan this year.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the current situation and post-conflict realities in the region, as well as the progress in process of reconciliation between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

FM Bayramov emphasized that the ongoing territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Armenian legislation, are the main factors threatening the sustainable peace-building process in the region.

The ministers also exchanged views on other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
