Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Monday with Luis Gilberto Murillo, Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, Jeyhun Bayramov stressed the importance of the development of cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian domains during the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He emphasized the significance of the high-level reciprocal visits, the mechanism of political consultations, as well as development of the relevant inter-ministerial relations.
Touching on the prospects for developing cooperation within international organizations, the sides acknowledged that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by Azerbaijan this year, created favorable opportunities for new areas of partnership, and Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with Colombia in this context.
Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the new realities emerged in the region after the restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories, as well as the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
