“The primary obstacle to peace is territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Armenian Constitution,” said Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, as he met with Xavier Bettel, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The parties discussed prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Luxembourg, as well as regional and international security issues.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information about the current situation and realities in the region during the post-conflict period, including the progress of the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the current challenges.

The sides underscored the importance of taking advantage of prospects for cooperation in combating climate change, in light of Azerbaijan’s hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest.
