“In September last year, Azerbaijan fully restored its sovereignty. By implementing prompt and efficient measures, Azerbaijan eliminated elements that constantly threatened its territorial integrity. This has unquestionably elevated the significance of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan,” said Matthew Bryza, former U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan and Board Member of the Jamestown Foundation, in a statement to the "Election 2024" Independent Media Center.

“Elections are crucial for the democratic development of every country and can, in some cases, have a regional impact,” Matthew Bryza noted.

Recalling that the snap parliamentary elections on September 1 will take place across all territories of Azerbaijan, he added, "Holding elections just before COP29 will further boost Azerbaijan's global reputation. I applaud this process.”
