The Media Development Agency has issued a statement regarding reports circulated by media resources of certain countries that do not reflect the truth about Azerbaijan and are aimed at misleading the public opinion of the local and international audience.

AZERTAC presents the statement: “Recently, media resources of certain countries have been circulating information about Azerbaijan that does not reflect the truth and is aimed at misleading the public opinion of the local and international audience, referencing sources of questionable credibility. Circulating disinformation, the “Iran International” television channel, as well as “The Telegraph” publication, and the “Kan” agency, have been engaged in information manipulation about Azerbaijan in a manner that is incompatible with international journalistic standards, claiming that Israel had allegedly banned its soldiers from staying in Azerbaijan.

We inform you that there is no military contingent from any foreign country present on the territory of Azerbaijan. We strongly condemn information manipulations based on false news. We would also like to point out again that regardless of the country in which media operate, they must follow the universally accepted ethical principles of journalism when sharing information.

We consider it unacceptable that such publications, which represent a classic example of this type of disinformation, are re-circulated by some of our local media outlets after reaching social networks.

We call on society to believe only the information provided by official sources, journalists and social activists, to always demonstrate a principled approach in such situations and to be vigilant in a situation where fake and false information campaigns have become rampant.”
