The future of the South Caucasus is only a means for France to maintain its prestige against the backdrop of a hybrid war with Russia and failures on the African continent, Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said, Report informs.

Zakharova noted that France's presence in the Caucasus is of an intelligence nature: "France's presence in the South Caucasus region is an attempt to collect intelligence information, monitor regional states, and prevent the implementation of peace agreements reached between our countries."

According to her, if France's real goal was peace and security, then Paris would do everything in its power to implement the Russian-brokered agreements between Azerbaijan and Armenia in 2021.
