First day of Baku conference wraps up with discussions on “Confronting Islamophobia in the Context of Higher Education”

The first day of the Baku-hosted international scientific conference themed “Embracing Diversity: Tackling Islamophobia in 2024” wrapped up on Friday with discussions on “Confronting Islamophobia in the Context of Higher Education”.

 

The session was moderated by Agil Shirinov, Rector of Azerbaijan Institute of Theology.

 

Chairman of a Renowned Research Think-Tank “MUSLIM Institute” in Islamabad and London, Dewan (Prime Minister) of Junagadh State, Prof Sultan Ahmad Ali, Director of Gulf Studies Center at Qatar University Mahjoob Ahmed Suleman Zweiri, Azerbaijani MP Tural Ganjaliyev, Rector of Nur-Mubarak Egyptian University of Islamic Culture Mohamed Alshahhat Abdulhamid Mohamed Algindi, PhD, Executive Director of the Family and Youth Institute Sameera Ahmed and others addressed the session.

 

The conference, dedicated to the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, is co-organized by the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre, Azerbaijan’s Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR), the G20 Interfaith Dialogue Forum, and the Baku Initiative Group.

 

The two-day international conference is attended by Prof. Cole Durham (The USA) – President of the G20 Interfaith Dialogue Forum, Yousef M. Al-Dobeay (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) – Assistant Secretary-General of Political Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Khalid Fathalrahman Omer Mohamed (Sudan) – Ambassador, Director of the Center for Civilizational Dialogue at ICESCO and other dignitaries.

 

The conference brings together representatives from 30 countries, including scholars, experts from international organizations, religious figures, as well as members of non-governmental organizations.
