Azerbaijan is an example of what good energy sector management can achieve, Director of the Brussels Energy Club Nadežda Kokotović told Report.

According to her, Azerbaijan shows how countries, regardless of their size and population, can effectively use available resources.

In her opinion, the key factor in Azerbaijan’s successful policy is the preservation of “energy sovereignty.”

“Unlike some other Eurasian countries, Azerbaijan did not become a member of the Energy Community Treaty, but created its own independent policy, which is now producing results,” she said.

Nadežda Kokotović believes that Azerbaijan has successfully diversified the European gas market amid the war in Eastern Europe.

Speaking about the country’s energy projects, the director emphasized that the full effect of the signed and implemented agreements and memorandums will be felt in ten years.

“An integral part of these projects is a strategy to reduce losses in the oil and gas production and supply chain, which together represents an integrated approach focused on a specific result,” she concluded.
