Japan is interested in contributing to the COP29, which will be held in Baku in November 2024, Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Katsuya Watanabe told journalists, according to Report.

"We would also be happy to cooperate with Azerbaijan and other countries in the development of green energy," the ambassador said.

According to him, over the more than 30-year history of bilateral relations, strong ties have developed between Azerbaijan and Japan in many areas, including economics.

"This year has been declared the year of green energy in Azerbaijan, and holding COP29 in November 2024 in Baku is of great importance," he said.

The ambassador also noted that he pays great attention to holding Japanese cultural events in Baku: "I have been here for two months now and during this time we [the embassy] have held many events on cultural topics."

According to the ambassador, today's event dedicated to the traditional Japanese sword fighting is one of the examples of rich Japanese culture.

"Tate is a traditional Japanese art, the history of which goes back more than four decades. Holding this event is very important for us," the ambassador added.
