Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) Numan Kurtulmus has issued a statement on the resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) not to ratify the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation.

Numan Kurtulmus expresses his regret over the non-approval of the Azerbaijani delegation`s credentials by PACE. Azerbaijan, a member of the Council of Europe since 2001, has made significant contributions to upholding the fundamental principles of the organization and has played a leading role in key initiatives, such as preserving cultural diversity and promoting intercultural dialogue. This decision excludes a member country of the Council of Europe from PACE.

The document mentions that in the face of growing geopolitical tensions, political confrontations and conflicts worldwide, multilateral diplomacy must maintain its strength and resolve. PACE should serve as a cornerstone for dialogue and cooperation, rather than conflict.

The GNAT`s statement calls for unequivocal defense of the principles upheld by PACE, advocating for it to be a unifying platform rather than a source of division, and urges the ratification of the credentials of the delegation representing Azerbaijan`s Milli Majlis.

The Speaker expresses confidence that the decision to refuse the ratification of the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation will be reconsidered promptly.
