The Armenian publication called for repression of eco-activists

Whose order is the accusation of "working for Azerbaijan"?

Armenia is a source of great environmental danger in the South Caucasus region where we live. A lot has been written and said about this, and various examples have been given. We do not want to dwell on them directly in our article. Our topic is somewhat specific.

However, we must emphasize the importance of the protest action carried out by Azerbaijani eco-activists on the Lachin-Khankendi road from December 2022 to April 2023. As it is known, the action dealt a great blow to the former separatist regime in Karabakh, and in general, it played an exceptional role in conveying the consequences of Armenia's environmental terrorism to the world community.

It seems that Azerbaijan's actions against Yerevan on the environmental level, that is, its actions in the direction of exposing the damage it has caused to the environment at the state level, have had an impact on Armenia as well. Of course, what the Armenian publication "Hraparak" wrote is not just about what we mentioned. The publication takes an obvious provocative position. However, there is one truth that he revealed - the damage caused to the environment by the Armenian authorities has mobilized the country's non-governmental organizations related to the environment. They raise their voices of truth. The regrettable point is that "Hraparak" evaluates the issue as the result of "anti-Armenian propaganda" carried out by Azerbaijan and calls on the country's law enforcement agencies to fight against such tendencies. That's what provocation is.

Yes, "Hraparak" reports that under the guise of environmental problems, Azerbaijan has allegedly started a systematic struggle against Armenia's mining industry. Some environmental organizations in the country are contributing to the process: "It has come to the point that, based on the research of Armenian NGOs, Azerbaijan is making statements that Hayastan has created a catastrophic ecological situation in the Caucasus, demanding the closure of our mines, and even destroying the environment and biodiversity in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur. also files lawsuits against Armenia with a demand for compensation.

In the article, "Hraparak" quoted the words of Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. It should be noted that J. Bayramov stated some time ago that the state of Azerbaijan filed a lawsuit against Armenia due to the large amount of environmental damage caused to our country. He drew attention to the fact that for the first time in history, the arbitration process regarding Armenia was started in accordance with the Berne Convention. "Hraparak" emphasizes that Armenian NGOs cooperate with foreign organizations, as well as by giving interviews and making statements, they support Baku's movement against Yerevan "in order to protect flora and fauna, habitats".

In the article, "Hraparak" draws attention to the spread of opinions in the Azerbaijani media after the opening of the gold mine Amulsar, that the operation of the mine harms the nature of the region and the health of people.

At the same time, the newspaper reminds that at that time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan issued a statement emphasizing that Armenia has caused serious damage to the habitat and fauna of the region, consumption of natural resources and destruction of biodiversity. Most importantly, the publication states that at that time, Armenian NGOs started making statements with almost the same content.

The opinions of the representatives of environmental organizations belonging to our country were also included in the Armenian newspaper. In those opinions, it was said that the initiatives of Azerbaijani eco-activists are also taken seriously in Armenia, and the representatives of the country's eco-organizations raise their voices of protest against environmental pollution. Taking into account all this, the publication suggested the selection of repressive methods against Armenian eco-activists. The newspaper started hinting that they supposedly work for the state of Azerbaijan. It is true that the media cannot put the matter definitively. No doubt, no evidence. He is just trying to form a negative opinion, as they say, sowing seeds of doubt: "We don't want to draw far-reaching conclusions about Armenian ecologists working with and for Azerbaijan. We believe that the recently created Counter-Intelligence Service and the National Security Service of Armenia should take an interest in the situation. "They should find out whose interests are served by more than 100 NGOs operating in Armenia and recently making a statement against the exploitation of Amulsar."

In general, the representatives of the current and previous authorities of Armenia did not expect any rules during the exploitation of various mineral deposits for their personal interests. Last year, the construction of a factory in the region near Nakhchivan by the Armenian government in cooperation with the US company also shows this. As it is known, it was decided to build the plant in another place after serious objection of Azerbaijan. It was also known that the waste of the said enterprise was supposed to be discharged into the river. That river flowed into the territory of Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that it is an undeniable fact that Armenians polluted Okchuchay during the occupation years. In such a situation, it should not be considered a coincidence that the ideas that Azerbaijan has deliberately hit Armenia's mining industry have come up in Armenia. It seems that the people in the Armenian government and in the circles close to it, as they say, have become poor. That's why they create a "show" on Azerbaijan's campaign against Armenia and distort reality. Of course, they are not interested in ecology and the environment. Their desire is to make an easy profit…

Yes, certain people in Armenia say that Azerbaijan's environmental protest is aimed at preventing Armenia's development. Vardan Janyan, the head of the Union of Miners and Metallurgists of Armenia and the first deputy general director of Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine, stated this to Hraparak. According to him, this is the goal of the campaign launched by Azerbaijan: "Azerbaijan wishes that Armenia does not have economic growth and does not become a competitor from a military point of view."

As it can be seen, the brain-hemorrhaged representatives of the sick Hay society are taking the path of demarche against the positive forces in Armenia. They do not realize that it is necessary to protect the land they walk on and the air they breathe. For these creatures, whose instincts are dominated by animal instincts, there is only ambition. The slogan that "Hraparak" ripped off is, in fact, a slogan, a manifestation of Armenian adventurism.
