Envoy: Visit of Georgian Parliament Speaker to Baku to bring additional impetus in relations

The visit of the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili to Azerbaijan will bring additional impetus to relations between the two countries, Ambassador of Georgia to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataridze said, Report informs referring to Sputnik-Georgia.

On December 10, Papuashvili arrived in Azerbaijan on an official visit at the invitation of Azerbaijan’s Parliamentary Chairperson Sahiba Gafarova.

As part of his visit to Baku, he was received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

The Georgian speaker will also meet with Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Chairperson of the Parliament Sahiba Gafarova.

“I am confident that this visit will bring additional impetus to relations between the two countries,” Pataridze said.

He noted that a number of important issues will be discussed at the meetings, including the role of Georgia as a mediator in negotiations between Baku and Yerevan.

“You know well the initiative of the prime minister of our country, the peace initiative that exists, and we are moving very successfully in this direction. Georgia’s mediation is very important,” Pataridze said.
