Zafar Sirakaya: Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia have right to return to their homes

"According to Article 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia have the right to return to their homes," Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party of Türkiye (AK Party), member of the Grand National Assembly, Zafar Sirakaya, said at the international event themed "Ensuring the safe and dignified return of displaced Azerbaijanis from Armenia: Global context and a just solution," XQ informs.

The MP paid tribute to the memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, whose 100th anniversary is celebrated this year, and spoke of the unbreakable brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye and said that these relations are of great importance for peace in the region.

Recalling the heavy humanitarian consequences of the past conflict for the people of Azerbaijan, the speaker noted with sorrow the expulsion of Azerbaijanis from Armenia and the destruction of Azerbaijani cultural heritage in this country.

The deputy chairman of the AK Party said that with the liberation of Azerbaijan's lands, there is a favorable opportunity for lasting peace in the region.

Sirakaya noted that it is time to close the painful page of the past and look to the future, and he expressed his support for Azerbaijan's peace efforts.
