Khankendi should be declared the capital of Azerbaijan - a proposal from the Party Chairman

"We raised the issue of speeding up migration to Khankendi from the beginning. Because during the Soviet era, there were both Azerbaijanis and Armenians in Khankendi."

These words were said by Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of the Modern Musavat Party (MMP).

The politician originally from West Azerbaijan shared his thoughts on the migration to Khankendi:

"In 1988, when we, Western Azerbaijanis, were deported from Armenia, when they implemented the policy of genocide against us, we said that they should move us to Karabakh. But this issue was not resolved, Abdurrahman Vazirov prevented the migration. Now we are late in this issue."

The chairman of MMP assured that West Azerbaijanis, including those born in Khankendi, should be resettled in the city as a matter of urgency:

"At the same time, infrastructure should be established in the region and work should begin so that the world can see that Khankendi has been liberated from occupation. Large factories and plants should be opened there, jobs should be created, and the burden on Baku should be reduced."

H. Hajiyev suggested that Khankendi be declared the capital of Azerbaijan:

"Today, a situation has arisen in Baku, where cars cannot be moved in the city. From this point of view, there should be an urgent migration to Khankendi and the mayor of the city should be appointed. The longer we delay the process, the more the world will attack us. They demand the return of Armenians to the city. Then 5-10 Armenians will gather and again demand that Karabakh be given either independence or cultural autonomy. If we can ensure peace and the settlement of Azerbaijanis in Khankendi, it will be a great victory."
