The meeting of the state commission on border delimitation between Azerbaijan and Armenia has started.

Political scientist Gabil Huseynli told Sonxeber.az that the delimitation of borders is not a matter that can be implemented in a moment. It can take a long time and can be specified in parts:

The Almaty principles of 1991 will probably be used as a basis for border delimitation. Then, by bringing up various topographical, that is, military maps, they will try to get information about where the borders crossed in different periods. The delimitation of the borders is not a momentary issue. But I would say that one of the most difficult processes is the delimitation of borders. I think enclaves will play an important role in delimitation. Armenia usurped several territories of Azerbaijan under the name of enclave. We are talking about 7 villages of Gazakh and Karki village of Nakhchivan. The territories of these villages are quite large. The territory of 8 villages is almost equal to one district.

Gabil Huseynli noted that Armenia can return 5 villages of Gazakh without any dispute, because they do not correspond to the concept of an enclave:

"Armenia considers only 2 villages of Gazakh as an enclave based on the fact that they pass through the territory of Armenia. It considers Kerkin as a half-enclave. Instead, it considers Gadabayin Bashkend as an Armenian enclave in the territory of Azerbaijan. Bashkend is an area at least 25 km deep in Azerbaijan, and no one lives in the villages of Gazakh. who does not live. The solution to this will not be so difficult. Armenia can return 5 villages of Gazakh without any dispute. Because they do not correspond to the concept of an enclave. These are usurped lands that they must return."
