As part of the "Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty," an event aimed at promoting Azerbaijan among Moroccan youth was organized at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Kingdom of Morocco, in collaboration with the Agdal-Riyadh District of Rabat. On this occasion, AZERTAC’s correspondent in Rabat interviewed Abdelilah Idrissi Bouzidi, President of the Agdal-Riyadh District Council, who shared his views on the event. Below is the text of the interview:
– What is the nature of the activity you mentioned initiating with the Azerbaijani Ambassador?
We are pleased to participate in this very special cultural event that connects us with Azerbaijan. This is not the first initiative we have carried out in partnership with the Embassy—several events have been organized previously.
Today’s meeting was highlighted by speeches from both His Excellency the Ambassador and myself, in which we emphasized the strong relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Azerbaijan, especially in recent years. These ties are built to last.
In this context, the exceptional visit of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa to Azerbaijan is particularly noteworthy, as it is certain to yield positive results for the relations between our two countries.
– What does this event mean to you, and in what context did it take place?
Through events like this, we aim—via representative and civil society diplomacy—to reinforce the vision of official diplomacy, the principles and strategy of which were established by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God Assist Him. This special event, part of grassroots diplomacy working in tandem with official diplomacy, coincided with two significant occasions: the birthday of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay El Hassan, may God Protect Him, and International Children's Day.
These two events created an opportunity to organize a painting competition involving students from public and private primary, middle, and high schools, as well as vocational training institutes across the Agdal-Riyadh District.
– What is the objective of this cultural and artistic competition?
This artistic competition, which will culminate in major awards, aims to educate young Moroccans about the civilization, culture, and unique aspects of Azerbaijan. The goal is to foster cultural exchange by engaging youth in these special relationships and to further deepen these ties in the context of the two major celebrations.
