The Children and Youth Development Center No. 5 in Baku recently held the 3rd Kelaghayi Festival, aiming to promote the material cultural and national heritage among children and youth while preserving cultural and spiritual values, Baku City Education Department told Report.

As part of the festival, a competition titled "Kelaghayi is the Symphony of the National Spirit" was organized among the members of extracurricular institutions operating in Baku.

The competition was held in two categories: a video presentation contest called "Kelaghayi in Modern Clothing" and a painting contest named "Azerbaijani Kelaghayi Ornaments in Paintings."

The winners of the competition were awarded diplomas and certificates for the first, second, and third places.

The festival also featured a master class, a concert program, and an excursion to the Shaki Silk Factory, organized in collaboration between the Children and Youth Development Center No. 5 and the Rasim Ojagov Children and Youth Development Center in Shaki, Azerbaijan.

Kelaghayi, a traditional Azerbaijani silk headscarf, is an essential part of the country's cultural heritage. In November 2014, the traditional art and symbolism of Kelaghayi, making and wearing women's silk headscarves was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
