Azerbaijan`s animation film “The Date” has been selected to the "Grand Panorama" program of the Cinanima Festival 2023 - the 47th International Animated Film Festival to be held in the city of Espinho, Portugal on November 13-19.

CINANIMA is officially an OscarTM qualifying festival by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science and whose winner is eligible for the nomination for the Best Animated Short Film and has the approval of the International Film Association (ASIFA). To many professionals, the opportunity to present a film at CINANIMA represents one of the few opportunities to show the public the result of their work and effort, in addition to the privileges to which the winners are entitled.

The director of the animated film "Date" produced by the "OB FILM" studio is Jeyhun Turksoy, while the composer is Shamsi Taghiyev, the screenwriter and producer is Orkhan Behbid.

The film narrates about a boy who cannot memorize the occupation dates of Azerbaijani regions from his school diary. He falls asleep after playing with his toys. In a dream, the toys turn into real military equipment and triumph over the enemy. The child wakes up, opens the diary and proudly watches the occupation dates being crossed out in red.

“The Date" was previously demonstrated at the 5th ANIMAFILM International Animation Festival held in Baku, at the 19th Aakruti-My Creation International Film Festival in India (Quarter-Finalist), at the Batangas Balisong Film Festival in the Philippines (Nominee), at the 14th VAFI & RAFI - International Children and Youth Animation Film Festival in Croatia, at the 3rd Altyn Saka Animation Film Festival in Kazakhstan (Winner) and at the 3rd Festival del Cinema di Cefalu in Italy (Nominee).
