The Congress of the Republic of Peru has adopted a statement congratulating Azerbaijanis worldwide on the 107th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

The statement highlights that the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was the first democratic republic in the East, ensuring equal rights for all its citizens. It emphasizes that people of all religions and ethnic groups in Azerbaijan live in peace and harmony.

“Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty after years of foreign occupation. The country is currently taking steps towards achieving lasting and irreversible peace in the South Caucasus region, as well as restoring stability and security.

Azerbaijanis around the world celebrate May 28 as a national holiday, remembering their ancestors' role in spreading democracy across the Caucasus, Central Asia, and the Middle East,” the statement mentions.

The statement also recognizes Azerbaijan as an important partner for Peru.
