“Through a number of accounts operating on social media platforms, a video created using deepfake technology has been circulated in the name of Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This video does not reflect reality and consists of fake content,” said Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency in a statement.
“This example of disinformation, generated with the help of artificial intelligence and aimed at misleading public opinion, seeks to harm the relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, undermine the existing strategic alliance between the two brotherly countries, and weaken mutual trust.
We urge the public to rely solely on information provided by official sources and call on journalists, as well as public activists, to always uphold a principled stance against such incidents and to remain vigilant in an environment where campaigns based on fake and fabricated information, as well as content created using deepfake technologies, are on the rise.
At the same time, we invite the owners of social media platforms and relevant authorities to take measures to promptly remove harmful and fake content and to implement effective mechanisms to prevent such incidents,” the Media Development Agency emphasized.
