The President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj was awarded the Friend of Azerbaijan Golden Order, established by the My Azerbaijan International Magazine, for his services in strengthening peace, friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between peoples, as well as for special services in the development of friendly relations, political, economic and cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Albania.

The award was presented to the President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj by the Editor-in-Chief of the Magazine, Academician of the International Academy of Sciences Emil Nasirli during a meeting at the presidential residence in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
During the meeting, E.Nasirli said that the My Azerbaijan Magazine, which is distinguished by its unique style among the print media of our country, has been greeting its readers with interesting, informative articles for more than 20 years. The magazine staff worked hard to convey the voice of truth of Azerbaijan to readers around the world and made great efforts in this direction. As a result, the monthly My Azerbaijan Magazine has acquired a wide readership not only in the republic, but also in various countries of the world.

Then, speaking about the current level of relations between our countries, Emil Nasirli noted that the meetings of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with the President of the Republic of Albania Bayram Begaj can be considered a new stage in the development of relations between the two countries, and they are of great importance in terms of the foreign policy pursued by our country. Thus, the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, including Albania, is one of the important areas of the foreign policy of official Baku. The Editor-in-Chief also emphasized that the political dialogue between Albania, located in the southwest of the Balkan Peninsula, and Azerbaijan is developing on an upward trajectory this year as well. And the intensification of cooperation between Baku and Tirana allows for the parallel rapprochement of Azerbaijan with the US and the EU. "In general, Albania plays an important role in this political configuration. Because its relations with the United States, Turkey and other countries are at a high level," E.Nasirli noted.

Speaking about cooperation in the economic sphere during the meeting, Emil Nasirli added that trade relations between Azerbaijan and Albania have recently been intensifying. Given the broad potential of trade and economic relations between the two countries, the parties consider it appropriate to increase joint efforts to develop cooperation in this area. And cooperation in the energy sector is the main direction of our economic relations. The implementation of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project, the last section of the Southern Gas Corridor, is of strategic importance, and both countries are successfully cooperating in this direction.

During the meeting, the President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj expressed gratitude to the editorial board of the magazine for deeming him worthy of this award, and also highly appreciated the work done by the Azerbaijani side to strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries. 

During the exchange of views, President Bayram Begaj noted: “Certainly, as you noted, our countries are friendly countries. We must work to strengthen our bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of economy and tourism. We have the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, and we need to make more efforts to gasify the entire territory of the country.”

The friendly and partner relations between Azerbaijan and Albania were emphasized at the meeting, and the successful cooperation and mutual support of our countries within the framework of international organizations was highly appreciated.

During the conversation, an exchange of views on the transfer of information between the news agencies of our countries, as well as cooperation in the energy sector and the expansion of trade and economic ties took place. It was announced that mutual visits and high-level contacts will continue in the future.
