An event attended by representatives from Azerbaijan, Portugal, Romania, Türkiye, and Greece was held at NATO Allied Command Transformation, the Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.
During the event, a technical agreement was signed formalizing Azerbaijan’s accession to the Maritime Security Centre of Excellence (MARSEC COE) as a member.
MARSEC COE primarily focuses on enhancing maritime security through the active participation of its member states and encouraging other countries to fulfill their commitments in this domain.
Under the signed agreement, an officer from the Azerbaijan Naval Forces will represent the country at MARSEC COE for a three-year term.
As stipulated in the regulatory document, the Azerbaijani flag will be displayed at NATO MARSEC COE, and an Azerbaijani representative will maintain a continuous presence at the center.
